Metal Slug 6

Introduction

Metal Slug 6 occupies an unusual place in the Metal Slug series’ history: rather than an official SNK release, it is a bootleg arcade board built by unlicensed manufacturers using Metal Slug 3’s engine and assets, remixing stages, enemy placement, and weapon balance into what plays as an unofficial remix rather than a genuine new entry. It retains Metal Slug 3’s core run-and-gun structure, controlling a soldier of the Peregrine Falcon Squad through side-scrolling stages against the rebel army and mutant threats, while rearranging level layouts and enemy patterns enough to feel like a distinct, if familiar, experience for players who already know Metal Slug 3 well. Its bootleg origins mean it was never officially licensed or endorsed by SNK, circulating primarily through unlicensed arcade boards in some regions rather than any official cabinet release. Despite, or perhaps because of, its unofficial status, it has become a minor curiosity among Metal Slug completionists and retro arcade collectors interested in the series’ more obscure, unauthorized offshoots.
