The Adventures of Batman & Robin

Introduction

The Adventures of Batman & Robin was published by Konami and developed by Clockwork Tortoise, released for the Sega Genesis in 1995 as a tie-in to the animated series of the same name rather than the live-action films of that era. Players fight through side-scrolling stages as Batman, or Robin in two-player mode, using gadgets like batarangs and grapples alongside melee combat to take down classic rogues gallery villains including the Joker, Two-Face, and Mr. Freeze. The Genesis version stands apart from Konami’s separate SNES release under the same license, built by a different team with distinct level design and a moodier, more atmospheric visual style closer to the animated show’s own art direction. It was well received on release for its polish and faithfulness to the source material, and today it is often cited as one of the better Batman licensed games of the 16-bit era.
