About Columns
Columns is a falling-block puzzle game originally designed by Jay Geertsen, who sold the concept to Sega in 1990. Sega released it in arcades in March 1990 before porting it to the Genesis later that year, where it became the console’s answer to Tetris. Colored gems fall from the top of the screen in vertical columns of three, and players rotate and stack them to line up three or more of the same color, which then clear from the board — simple rules that made it an instant pack-in classic for the console.
Controls are usually keyboard based natively or touch if on mobile. No download required.
