Super Double Dragon

Super Double Dragon

Introduction

Super Double Dragon was developed by Technos Japan and released for the Super Nintendo in 1992, published by Tradewest in North America, as the first entry in the series built for 16-bit hardware. Billy and Jimmy Lee once again take to the streets against the Shadow Warriors gang, fighting through city blocks, casinos, airports and hideouts. The big change is in the fighting system: the brothers can block and catch incoming punches and kicks, then counter by twisting the attacker’s arm or slamming them into the ground, which turns crowd control into a matter of timing rather than button mashing. A power meter charges while a shoulder button is held and releases a stronger dragon attack, and weapons such as nunchaku, knives and boomerangs can be picked up from fallen enemies. Two players can fight side by side. The game shipped with some content cut to meet its release date, yet its responsive combat and moody soundtrack have earned it a lasting following.
