Capcom released Final Fight 2 in 1993 as a Super Nintendo exclusive rather than an arcade port. The Mad Gear gang has regrouped and kidnapped Rena, the fiancée of Guy, along with her father, the martial arts master Genryusai. With Guy away training, Mike Haggar teams up with two new fighters: Maki Genryusai, Rena’s younger sister and a nimble ninjutsu fighter, and Carlos Miyamoto, a swordsman trained in Japanese martial arts. The chase becomes a world tour, taking the heroes through Hong Kong, France, the Netherlands, England, Italy and finally Japan. Each character has a different balance of speed and power, along with throws, jump attacks and a desperation move that costs a little health. Unlike the first Super Nintendo Final Fight, this sequel supports two players at the same time, a feature fans had long wanted. Food, weapons and breakable objects are scattered through every stage, keeping the classic Final Fight rhythm intact.
