Air Diver

Introduction

Air Diver is a first-person combat flight simulator developed by Copya System and published by Asmik in Japan in March 1990, with a North American release by Seismic that April, for the Sega Genesis. Players pilot the fictional F-119D stealth fighter from an in-cockpit view, battling waves of enemy aircraft and ground targets across day and night missions set around a fictional Middle Eastern conflict, in a style clearly inspired by Sega’s own After Burner. The game holds a small but notable place in console history as one of the very first third-party titles published for the Genesis in North America. Reception at the time was mixed, with reviewers criticizing repetitive mission structure and choppy scrolling, though it remains a period curiosity for fans of early arcade-style flight shooters.
