Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project
Introduction
Konami released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project for the NES in 1991, an original adventure created for the console rather than an arcade conversion. While the turtles are on vacation in Florida, the Shredder raises the entire island of Manhattan into the sky, and Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael must fight their way back to save the city and April O’Neil. The game builds on the arcade-style action of TMNT II with new tricks: each turtle has a unique special attack that trades a small amount of health for a powerful strike, and Foot Soldiers can be grabbed and hurled across the screen. Stages include a beach, a bridge, a subway, a surfing section and a final assault on the Technodrome. Two players can play together throughout. It is often considered one of the best beat ’em ups on the NES.
