About Rainbow Islands

Rainbow Islands: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2 began as a 1987 Taito arcade game and sequel to the original Bubble Bobble, later arriving on the Sega Mega Drive as an enhanced port subtitled ‘Extra’ with a new Extra Mode. Players control Bubby and Bobby (human forms of Bubble Bobble’s Bub and Bob) as they climb seven colorful islands, defeating enemies by shooting rainbows at them instead of trapping them in bubbles like the original game. The story sees the pair rescuing islanders who’ve been imprisoned and transformed into Bubble Dragons by an evil villain.
