Nekketsu! Street Basket – Ganbare Dunk Heroes

Introduction

Technōs Japan released Nekketsu! Street Basket – Ganbare Dunk Heroes for the Famicom in 1993 as part of the Kunio-kun series. Kunio and his classmates from Nekketsu High School take their rough style to the basketball court, playing two-on-two matches against rival teams on outdoor courts around Japan and the United States. As in other games of the series, the rules are loose: players can punch, kick and throw opponents to steal the ball, and fallen players need a moment to get back up. Courts are filled with objects such as tyres and crates that can be picked up and thrown, and some stages have hazards on the ground. Special shots and dunks can be performed by building speed or timing jumps correctly. The game supports up to four players with an adapter, making matches between friends especially chaotic. It was never released outside Japan.
