Top Gear 3000

Top Gear 3000

Introduction

Top Gear 3000 was developed by Gremlin Interactive and released for the Super Nintendo in 1995, published by Kemco in North America. It moves the Top Gear series into the future, with races taking place on planets across a galaxy. Each track has its own conditions and hazards, and drivers compete through a series of systems to reach the top of the championship. Prize money earned from races can be used to buy upgrades such as engines, tyres, armour and boosts, and special weapons can be added to give an edge against rivals. The game used the DSP-4 chip to help with its fast 3D-style tracks. Like earlier Top Gear games, it uses a split-screen display even in single-player mode, and up to four players can race together with a multitap. Its soundtrack and variety of tracks made it a fitting final entry in the original series.
