Batman Forever
Description
Batman Forever was published by Acclaim Entertainment and released for the SNES in 1996, adapting Joel Schumacher’s 1995 film of the same name into a side-scrolling beat ’em up. Players take control of Batman or Robin, fighting through Gotham City streets and set pieces drawn from the movie toward showdowns with Two-Face and the Riddler. The SNES version was developed separately from Acclaim’s Genesis and Game Boy releases of the same license, and is a distinct game from the earlier Sunsoft-published Batman Forever arcade cabinet, despite sharing a name and source film. Contemporary reviews were mixed on its repetitive combat, but the game found an audience among younger players drawn in by the film’s popularity and its two-player co-op mode.
