Road Rash II

Introduction

Road Rash II was developed and published by Electronic Arts, released for the Sega Genesis in 1992 as a direct sequel to the original Road Rash. It expands the first game’s combination of motorcycle racing and open brawling, letting players punch, kick, and club rival racers off their bikes with weapons like chains and clubs while weaving through public traffic on winding coastal roads. New to the sequel is a two-player split-screen mode, letting a second racer join the mayhem directly rather than only via passed controllers, along with a wider selection of purchasable bikes and an expanded roster of tracks. Building directly on a game that was already well received, Road Rash II is generally regarded as a high point of the series and one of the more distinctive racing games on the Genesis for fusing racing with unapologetic violence.
